Welcome to Data Management Perspectives!

For those of you who already know me as a Principal Analyst with Forrester Research, this blog will be yet another channel where I can share my perspectives on the data management industry and share best practices and trends as I see them. After over 3 1/2 years (and counting) as a technology analyst at Forrester, and 14+ years prior as a data management practitioner and evangelist, I am fortunate to have a unique perspective from both the top-down and bottom-up on how data management efforts have evolved in the enterprise, what amazing benefits a strong data management strategy can provide, but why these efforts so often deliver below expectations.

My primary focus on this blog will continue to be master data management (MDM), data quality, data integration, metadata management, and data governance - technologies, strategies, and vendor market analysis. But don't be surprised if I have an opinion or two to share on the broader information management market as the structured world of data and the unstructured world of content continue their slow, but steady convergence over time.

I will also continue to post along with my Forrester colleagues on The Forrester Blog For Business Process & Applications Professionals, so be sure to check out the great content on that site as well.
